What We Believe

We are a congregation of committed followers of Jesus Christ. Our desire is to glorify God in everything we say and do (1 Corinthians 10:31). We hold the Word of God (The Bible) in highest regard as our only rule for faith and practice.

Following the Word of God, our church is led by a plurality of godly elders who meet the 21 Qualifications for Elders listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. We recognize from Scripture that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, the Chief Shepherd, under whom human shepherds lead the flock (1 Peter 5:1-4). Scripture identifies these human shepherds as pastors, elders or overseers. This is a single office with three manifestations.

As you search for a place to worship, you will want to know what that particular church believes. We, as a church, see the importance of the orthodox, historic creeds and confessions. So, in an effort to help you make your decision, we encourage you to read the London Baptist Confession of 1689.

We believe that local churches are to be independent of any outside ruling body exercising authority over them. Therefore, all decisions must come from within the church body. Jesus Christ has provided for this by giving the church godly men who lead the church. These men are called elders (pastor, overseer and elder all refer to the same office) and are responsible for the oversight, health and protection of the church family. We believe that the biblical model for church government is a plurality of godly elders leading the church. The following video (also available in transcript form) will explain why we hold to elder rule.
